Jang Doo Chil, a con artist who had been reported dead after committing a grand fraud case is rumored to be alive. A prosecutor, Park Hee Soo, who was in collusion with the con man needs to eliminate him to avoid a corruption scandal. When tracking down the con man, Hee Soo meets another fraudster named Ji Sung who is also after the same man for a personal revenge. Realizing their mutual goals, they decide to team up, but with hidden motives. They then recruit other swindlers; Suk Dong, Choon Ja, and Chief Kim, to throw bait at Jang Doo Chil’s right-hand man, Seung Gun
2nd time re-watching it and I enjoyed it again. I really love the storyline and acting are all spot on. If you love twist and turns of the great storyline, you better watch it. One of the best con movies! It’s about how the con artist planned the whole operation to revenge of his father’s murder. You think you know the storyline by guessing through out the movie, but you won’t.. in the end. It gonna blow your mind. I always love how things are unfolded in the end and show you why and how he managed the whole operation!
The movie had my blood boiling a few times, got me to laugh at times; overall, definitely evoked some emotional reaction. It ended on a satisfying note too. The performance of the cast was extremely good, especially from Hyun Bin, Yoo Ji Tae and Park Sung Woong, which should not be surprising. There were quite a few plot twists I did not predict, and some I was happy that happened.
The plot is not some grand scheme that involves x number of important characters. It’s kept local, with a smaller cast, but rather than making this less spectacular, it gives this feeling of a bit more realism (if we even can talk about levels of realism with con artist movies) which helped me get more involved in the story.
To summarize, everything is a lie in this movie and everyone is conning everyone. And I enjoyed it a lot.
